When Cursor is the better choice
Cursor is a code editor built on the VS Code codebase, so developers can import their VS Code settings and be productive on day one. It is strongest when you want suggestions as you type, quick edits to a selected block, and agents that work in the editor or in the cloud. Premium and higher plans add cloud agents, automations and AI code reviews.
The catch in October 2026 is cost. Cursor’s plans are billed in US dollars before tax, and their included usage covers xAI’s Grok models. If your developers want Claude, GPT or Gemini models inside Cursor, that usage is billed separately at the model’s API list price, so budget for it on top of the seat.
When Claude Code is the better choice
Claude Code runs in the terminal and works across the whole repository. It is strongest for tasks that touch many files: refactors, migrations, adding tests, or building a feature end to end from a written plan. Its usage comes with your Claude plan, so the monthly cost is predictable, and the reported rupee prices for Team include GST; check the price in your account. Our engineering team uses it daily for production agent work, with a CLAUDE.md rules file in every repo.

Frequently asked questions
Can we use Claude Code and Cursor together?
Yes. Many teams use Cursor as the editor and run Claude Code in its terminal for larger tasks. Cursor reads AGENTS.md, and Claude Code can read an AGENTS.md in place of a CLAUDE.md, so one rules file can serve both.
Which is cheaper for a team of 10 in India?
On list prices, Claude Team. On reported rupee prices, ten standard seats cost ₹29,990 a month, or ₹23,990 a month billed annually, with GST included (reported; billing period disputed, so check in your account). Cursor Teams starts at $30 per user a month, so $300 a month for ten users before tax and forex fees, plus API-rate charges if your developers use Claude or GPT models in Cursor. Claude Team also covers Claude for non-coding work.
Is our code used for training?
Anthropic does not train on code from Claude Team, Enterprise or API accounts by default. Cursor says that with Privacy Mode on, your code is not used for training by Cursor or its model providers; Privacy Mode is available on every plan and a team admin can switch it on for everyone. Check both settings before you start.
What about GitHub Copilot?
Copilot plugs into the editor your team already uses, such as VS Code, JetBrains IDEs or Visual Studio, and Copilot Business is $19 per user a month in US dollars. See Claude Code vs GitHub Copilot.
Do these prices include GST?
Claude’s reported rupee prices include GST; check the price in your account. Cursor’s prices are in US dollars and exclude tax, so GST and card forex fees are added when you pay. Our price table marks each plan.
Can S3Techpulse set this up for us?
Yes. Our AI Coding Tools for Dev Teams package covers seat mix, rules files, MCP setup and cost monitoring, quoted to your team size.
